Amy Bush has been named the third UNLV head women’s golf coach in history, the school announced June 15.

Bush spent the past three years as the top assistant to former head coach Missy Ringler, who left UNLV after the spring season to focus on family matters. During that time, the Rebels made three consecutive appearances in NCAA Regional competition and one trip to the NCAA Championships, where they turned in a program-best 16th place in 2008. Since 2007, the program has posted 15 top-10 finishes in regular-season tournament play.

“Amy is the perfect person to follow Missy in leading the UNLV women’s golf team,” athletic director Jim Livengood said. “She has prepared very well for this opportunity and will be an outstanding head coach. Our student-athletes will be well served by Amy’s leadership.”

Bush serves as secretary/treasurer for the Board of Directors of the Southern Nevada Chapter PGA. Before joining Ringler’s staff, Bush was the chapter coordinator for the Southwest Section PGA from 2005 to 2007. She was the tournament director for numerous events, including the PGA Junior Series, Arizona Open and the Southwest Section Championship. She was named 2006 Las Vegas Chapter Golf Professional of the Year. Before working for the Southwest Section PGA, Bush served as an assistant professional at SouthShore Golf Club and TPC at Summerlin.

“I am excited to build on the foundation that has been set here at UNLV,” Bush said. “I am looking forward to the start of the fall season, as we return a solid core of players and will welcome in a good freshman class, as well.”
