Fairway fashion at Pebble Beach
Wednesday, June 16, 2010
U.S. Open week is one of the four weeks in golf that we all get giddy over. But this isn’t just any U.S. Open – this is the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Pebble is one of the most famed venues in the world, rich in history and prestige, unmatched by any other. It will be difficult to steer our attention away from the ambiance in order to get a glimpse of this week’s fairway fashionistas.
Who do you think is going to pull it off this time around? Sure, the last U.S. Open on Pebble soil had Tiger Woods strolling through the finish line 15 strokes ahead of the pack. But don’t overlook feisty Dustin Johnson, who is confidently coming off an AT&T double-header sweep.
But enough about the competitive storylines, isn’t anyone excited to see what kind of outfits these guys are going to sport? I sure am!
The weather forecast is going to be a chilly this week. Time to pull out the cashmere, tartan and woolies because that ocean air is going to be fiercely affecting shots and wardrobe decisions. On the flipside, this will be great warm up to the Open Championship next month.
Here are a few players I expect to be stylishly decked out for the cooler climate this week:
• Ian Poulter. Having the across-the-pond expertise under his belt, this man really knows what it takes to dress stylish in these conditions.
• Tiger Woods. He always looks crisp and put together. Not to mention it’s hard to go wrong with Nike’s killer cashmere sweaters. Expect to see him at the top of the leaderboard of style this week.
• Dustin Johnson. This Adidas boy is going in for the kill both in fashion and with his golf game. Keep an eye out!
• Rocco Mediate. Just landing in the final U.S. Open spot, Rocco is going to make sure he comes out looking fabulous in his Bugatchi Italian fashion.
