PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – OK, here’s the latest evidence that we’re at a U.S. Open at Pebble Beach instead of just a PGA Tour event sponsored by a telephone company.

Haven’t seen George Lopez or Ray Romano all week.

Haven’t heard anyone say, “Bumpy poa.”

Haven’t seen anyone back up a 4-iron approach.

Haven’t seen Jim Nantz interview Clint Eastwood.

Haven’t seen Phil Mickelson make a birdie through 18 holes.

And haven’t heard a quote like this in about a year: “Level par ... is a great score today,” Ian Poulter said after posting one of the four 1-under-par 70s in the morning wave.
