PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – For a few moments late in Friday’s second round of the U.S. Open, fans around the 16th and 17th holes had an abundance of major championship winners to watch.

Not only were Phil Mickelson (four majors), Padraig Harrington (three) and Y.E. Yang (one) inside the ropes, but Annika Sorenstam (10 LPGA majors) was signing autographs a short distance away.

The incomparable Swede was more than happy to oblige happy fans, but her original intent was to take in the beauty of Pebble Beach and some great U.S. Open competition. Accompanied by husband Mike McGee, Sorenstam was in attendance to do some corporate work for Lexus, which has a prominent tent near the spectator entrance.

Sorenstam has been at Pebble before, having played once in the annual October Callaway Invitational. She said she’ll also stick around Monday to play the course as part of a corporate arrangement.
