Feng’s winning streak on rocks at ToC
JOHNSON, Ark. – Yueer Cindy Feng’s bid for three straight invitational titles may have been lost at breakfast.
Feng became ill an hour before her 8:05 a.m. tee time Wednesday. Clutching her stomach before and after every shot, and lagging well behind her playing partners while walking in the fairway, Feng labored to an 80 in the second round of the AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions.
Feng, who won the Thunderbird International and Rolex Girls in the past two months, has a two-round total of 9-over 153, leaving her seven shots back of leaders Emily Tubert and Kristen Park.
“It was a tough round,” Feng said.
Blessings Golf Club is a grueling test of endurance at optimal health, with severe elevation changes and long, winding pathways to reach the fairway. Feng struggled to even complete her second round, and needed a pull cart after she made the turn.
Still, Feng is only seven back with 36 holes to play. Asked if overcoming that deficit was feasible in her condition, Feng mumbled, “Maybe if I don’t feel like this tomorrow.”
