EmailDORAL, Fla. – Slowly, but surely, the 68-player field is coming together for the CA Championship.
A number of players have made casually late arrivals at the Doral Resort & Spa, among them Luke Donald. Not that anyone can blame him; he was, after all, home with wife Diane and their first child.
Elle Georgina was born Feb. 26, some four weeks earlier than the Donalds had expected.
“A surprise, but a real good one,” Donald said. “An amazing experience.”
He skipped the Honda Classic, a tournament he won in 2006, and considered taking a pass on this World Golf Championship. But he realized he could arrive at Doral Tuesday night, practice Wednesday, then head back to his wife and daughter Sunday night.
Donald said he’d probably play next week’s Transitions Championship.
