NEW ORLEANS – Sergio Garcia has committed to play in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

It will be the first time Garcia has played in New Orleans.

His addition on Wednesday adds luster to a field that already includes Steve Stricker, the No. 2-ranked player in the world.

Garcia is currently ranked 17th in the world but was ranked No. 2 for part of 2009. His signature win in the United States was the 2008 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, which like TPC Louisiana, is a Pete Dye-designed course.

The 30-year-old Spaniard has 19 victories worldwide but is probably best known for his play on the European Ryder Cup team.
