Christina Kim's new style, game look sharp
CARLSBAD, Calif. – Christina Kim, always a colorful character, debuted a new look this week at the Kia Classic. She walked the La Costa fairways wearing a fedora hat and a chain attached to her yardage book (think Justin Timberlake).
“Sometimes you’ve just got to revamp your look,” said Kim, who has kept off the pounds she shed last season. “I’m a big fan of classic Rat Pack and punk rock.”
Kim picked up the chain at a skater shop and wore a Peter Grimm fedora during the second round. She may bring back a Kangol or a scarf later this week, but one thing you’ll never see her wear is a baseball cap.
While Kim said her new look has been well-received, she wasn’t at all impressed with the fan who asked her to sign a glossy print of her posing nude with Sandra Gal and Anna Grzebien for ESPN’s “The Body Issue.” This particular photo hadn’t been released by ESPN, and Kim wanted to know where he got it before she signed.
“It’s a good pic, I’m not going to lie,” she said. “I’ll just scribble all over myself.”
Kim’s blood pressure already had escalated on the ninth hole (her last) when she made bogey to shoot 3-under 69. She made a show out of kicking her golf bag and later Tweeted her frustrations.
“Christina wants to swear,” she Tweeted. “Really loudly. And in a whole string of words. Missed 5 putts inside of 12 feet.”
Scoring conditions were good for the morning wave, and Kim felt she didn’t take advantage. She’s currently tied for 13th at 2-under par, five strokes back.
