SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Sara Doell has been named coach of the new women’s golf team at Seton Hall.
The Big East Conference school announced the hiring Friday, a little more than a month after the university announced it would be adding a women’s golf program to meet NCAA and Title IX requirements.
The golf program was added after Seton Hall announced plans to eliminate its women’s track and field programs after the current academic year in a cost-saving move.
Doell has spent the last 4 1/2 years as an assistant coach at Penn State. She had been an assistant golf professional in North Carolina for more than four years prior to joining the Nittany Lions.
Doell graduated from Penn State in 2000 and was the 1998 New York State Amateur champion.
