Kent State completed a dominant performance Sunday to win its record 18th Mid-American Conference Championship.

The Golden Flashes shot 2-over 290 at Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio, to finish at 2-under 1,150, 22 shots ahead of second-place Eastern Michigan (296).

It was Kent State’s second straight conference crown.

Kent State juniors Brett Cairns and John Hahn shared the individual title after finishing at 3-under 285. It was the third time a pair of Kent State teammates have shared MAC medalist honors.

Sophomore Mackenzie Hughes was third. The Kent State threesome also finished 1-2-3 last season.

Kent State has won 14 of the last 19 MAC Championships, and is now tied with Ohio for the most men’s golf MAC titles.

The Golden Flashes earned the MAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals that take place May 20-22. Pairing will be announce on May 10.
