McHENRY, Md. – Lodestone Golf Club, a new Hale Irwin design that’s set to open in June, will allow golfers to experience the club through a trial program established by OB Sports, which manages the property.
The 2010 Trial Use Privilege program costs $2,000 for an individual, $3,000 for a husband and wife, and $3,600 for a family.
The program includes: unlimited play during the golf season with only a $20 cart fee; unlimited use of practice facilities; ability to play the Wisp Resort Golf Course Sunday-Thursday for the $20 cart fee; discounts on items in the pro shop; and reduced rates at OB Sports facilities around the country.
Lodestone is a mountainous, 7,335-yard layout that sits on a ridge above Deep Creek Lake in western Maryland. At 2,973 feet above sea level, it has the highest elevation of any course in the state.
OB Sports also has just launched a 6-month-long membership at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club. The cost is $635 per month, with first and last month’s dues payable upon signing. For that fee, new members will have access to all of the club’s facilities and amenities. The program runs through Oct. 31.
Superstition Mountain has two courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and is a former LPGA tournament site.
Notable: Troon Golf was hired to manage Sanctuary Golf Course in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Randy Heckenkemper design is located on the western slope of the McDowell Mountains. . . . Tucker’s Point Golf Club in Bermuda is providing guaranteed tee times at Mid Ocean Club for its members and guests of the Tucker’s Point Hotel & Spa. Both courses are located in Tucker’s Town.
