Media catalyst to undergo trial by fire

Think of it as a match play golf tournament.

The two finalists will battle each other for 50 days in nine countries on three continents.

OK, it’s not a golf tournament. It’s a spirited one-on-one competition for a job with TaylorMade-Adidas Golf. The job title is called social media catalyst.

The two finalists will be asked to create compelling content through Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other social media channels as they travel around the globe. They also will compete in a series of challenges that include problem solving, leadership, marketing and budget management.

Destinations on the worldwide journey include Norway, Scotland, Dubai, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Canada and the United States (specifically, Bandon Dunes, Ore., where the winner will be announced on Aug. 10).

To apply for the job, applicants should submit resumes to Yahoo! HotJobs (at hotjobs.yahoo.com), a leading online resource for job seekers and recruiters.

The deadline for applying is May 20, and the two finalists will be announced on June 4. This lucky twosome will travel with one Adidas employee and a small documenting camera crew.

Even if the competition isn’t golf, this might be labeled the U.S. Open of job hunting. As a famous golfer might observe, “Bring your A game.”
