NCAA Men’s Regional bids revealed

Oklahoma State, the No. 1 team in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, will head to Georgia, while No. 2 Texas A&M will be staying at home, the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Committee announced Monday. The 81-team postseason field will compete May 20-22 at six regional sites.

The Cowboys will be the top-seeded team at the Capital City Club in Alpharetta, Ga. No. 14-ranked Arizona State is the second seed, followed by No. 18 Georgia Tech, the regional host.

Defending NCAA champion and top-seeded Texas A&M will enjoy a home-course advantage at The Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas, where the Aggies defeated Oklahoma State by 21 shots and Texas Tech by 25 at last month’s Aggie Invitational. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals who are not members of those teams will compete in three of the regionals.The other three regionals will feature fields of 14 teams and five individuals.

The top five teams from each of the six regionals (54 holes each) and the low individual not a member of those teams will advance to the NCAA Championship on June 1-6 at The Honors Course near Chattanooga, Tenn.
