British Columbia won its third NAIA title in program history Friday after a true team effort.

The Thunderbirds opened with a 13-over 301 at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City, S.D. before recording back-to-back scores of 23-over 311 that gave them a narrow lead over five-time defending champion Oklahoma City. The Thunderbirds capped off the tournament with another 301 that put them at 72 over for the week, and their first team title since 2004.

Freshman Kylie Barros led the Thunderbird charge from the No. 5 spot, ending the tournament at 15-over 303 and in second place.

Oklahoma City finished second seven shots back of British Columbia, while California Baptist was third at 101-over 1,253.

California Baptist’s Nathalie Silva was the individual medalist at 13-over 301, Oklahoma City’s Laura Jones was third at 16-over 304. Marian’s Angela Gauck and Oklahoma City’s Paige Martin finished in a tie for fourth at 17-over 305.
