McInerney (No. 8, 2012) commits to UNLV

A.J. McInerney has given a verbal commitment to stay home and play for the hometown UNLV Rebels. McInerney, who is ranked No. 8 in the 2012 class, made visits to UNLV, Stanford and San Diego.

“I committed to UNLV because Coach (Dwaine) Knight is a great teacher and coach, and Vegas is an awesome place to play golf,” McInerney said. “Southern Highlands, Shadow Creek and Keith Kleven isn’t bad.”

McInerney, who attends Coronado High School in Henderson, Nev., recently was named a second-team AJGA Rolex All-American and made the AJGA HP Academic Honor Roll.
