Affrunti leads by three in Chattanooga

Joe Affrunti watches his drive during the second round of the Chiquita Classic.

Thanks to a stretch that included five birdies in six holes, Joe Affrunti took a three-shot lead at the Chattanooga Classic on Friday. Affrunti fired a second-round 66 at the Black Creek Club to finish Round 2 three shots ahead of Ryan Armour and Ted Potter, Jr.

Affrunti, a graduate of Illinois, made birdie at Nos. 3-6 and made another at No. 8, stumbling with a bogey at No. 7.

Affrunti, No. 43 on the Nationwide Tour money list, started the day tied for second after opening with a bogey-free 64.

First-round leader Todd Demsey opened with a 10-under 62, but backed it up with a 75 in Round 2 to fall all the way back to T-16.
