Bobby Gojuangco of San Diego has given a verbal commitment to play college golf at the Air Force Academy.
“I chose Air Force mainly because of its highly regarded academic reputation and my family’s history in the military,” Gojuangco said. “I would be third generation of military in my family. The highly sought-after careers of an officer are what attracted me, including the potential to be a pilot. Being a student-athlete may be one of the most difficult things in college, and Air Force is dedicated to both the student and the athlete.”
Gojuangco also was interested in Northwestern, Notre Dame and San Diego State, but made visits only to San Diego State and Air Force.
“The Academy has started building an all-weather short-game facility and indoor hitting bay. They currently have 36 holes of championship golf on campus,” Gojuangco said. “Coach (George) Koury is a very knowledgeable coach, and I think his experience of being a former student-athlete at the Academy will help me throughout my college career.”
Gojuangco, who attends Torrey Pines High School, shared medalist honors at the AJGA Preseason Junior at Oak Valley and finished first at the PGA Junior Series event at Air Force.
