David Mathis took a step towards moving into the top 25 on the money list Friday, shooting a 7-under 63 to take a two-shot lead at the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open.

Mathis, who entered the week No. 35 on the money list and sits at 9 under par, leads Andrew Svoboda, Craig Barlow and Kyle Reifers, who are each at 7 under. Mathis started the day T-23 after shooting 2-under 68 in Thursday’s opening round at TPC Sawgrass’ Dye’s Valley course.

Opening-round leader Shane Bertsch shot a 71 in Round 2 and slipped back to a five-way tie for ninth, while Tommy Gainey, No. 3 on the money list, shot 67 to move from T-37 to T-14.
