Ishikawa seeks to rekindle magic at Fujisankei Classic

It was 12 months ago that Ishikawa swept to victory in the Fujisankei Classic at Fujizakura Country Club.
It was a success that not only set him on the path to becoming the youngest winner of a money list title, but also earned him a wildcard pick to Greg Norman’s International Team for the Presidents Cup.
Ishikawa, who turns 19 this month, is in fifth place in the 2010 standings, but was encouraged by an equal sixth-place finish at last week’s Vana H Cup KBC Augusta.
Last year, he won the Fujisankei by five shots for his third win of the season. To date this year, he’s won just once, a spectacular success at The Crowns in May when he fired a final-round 58.
At Fujizakura Country Club, Ishikawa will tee-off in the 110 million yen (about U.S. $1.3 million) event alongside money-list leader Hiroyuki Fujita and Hideto Tanihara, whose triumph last week saw him rise into the top-10.
