Junior diary: New putter, new beginnings

Hey y’all!
Well, I have a story to tell! My golf friends have always said the face of my putter looked scratched, but I never really paid much attention to it. However, one day it came to my mind randomly during one of my lessons, so I turned to my coach and showed him my putter. When I did this, he looked at me strange and said, “Emma in all my years of teaching golf, I’ve never seen anyone wear out their putter face.”
With that being said, I got really upset, but really happy at the same time, because I knew that if it was worn out that I would have to get a new one. However, I was really happy because I thought it was pretty cool that I wore my putter out. I have had my putter for at least three years, this was quite an experience! My new putter is the new version of my old one and I absolutely love it. I just want to practice all the time!
Junior diary
Emma Talley, 16, will file a diary each week this summer as she plays some of the premier junior events in the country.
Talley is a two-time Rolex Junior All-American and has six AJGA victories. She holds both the AJGA's 54-hole scoring record for girls (15-under 198) and the record for largest margin of victory (22 shots).
My high school golf is going pretty well and I have won a few tournaments. This past weekend I shot 4 under and won! School is still difficult, but I am getting through it. Also, since I am a junior, I am starting to think about where I want to go to college. With all the opportunities God has given me, I am really excited about picking a school to play golf. It is almost Sept. 1, which is the date when I can begin to get letters from schools. I am extremely excited to see where I need to go. I registered with the NCAA Clearing House, which is a very important thing all athletes have to do if they want to play Division I or Division II sports.
Now for my social life. Let me just say I didn’t have my voice after last Friday night’s football game. It was our football team’s first game of the year. Unfortunately it was away but I still went absolutely crazy. I love sports and I try never to miss a sporting event. Also, I signed myself up again to go to the fitness center. I am a little different than a lot of people at my school because I love to work out and make myself do things that are WEIRD! With that, I have given up sweets at least until the New Year, but hopefully it will be longer if I can withstand the challenge. Also, I am trying to gain muscle but lose fat, just like everyone in the country, but I am determined to do this. I have gotten one of my close teachers and a family friend to join the challenge with me. I have a big challenge, but I am signed up with the fitness center again and I am watching what I eat. Now I just have to stick with these things.
I hope everyone has had a wonderful week and I will keep you up to speed on how the tourneys, workouts, eating habits, college, and my golf game goes. Love everyone out there! Have a great week! Peace!
