The 2011 AJGA Cup, formerly known as the Canon Cup, will be staged at Eagle Point Golf club in Wilmington, N.C. The co-ed team competition, slated for July 25-28, matches the best 20 junior players from the West against those of the East.
Eagle Point opened in 2000, and the par-72 course tops out at 7,200-plus yards. It was designed by Tom Fazio.
“Eagle Point is very excited to be able to host this great event,” club president Bobby Long said. “This is a unique opportunity for us to showcase our facility and to work hand in hand with the AJGA. We feel certain that it will prove to be a challenging test to all of the participants.”
The West won the 2010 AJGA Cup and leads the series 12-8-1. Notable players who have competed in past cups include Stewart Cink, Matt Kuchar, Tiger Woods, Rickie Fowler, Cristie Kerr and Paula Creamer.
