Luke Donald Played well at Masters, playing better than ever and tied for third last year at Hilton Head, a shotmaker's place that doesn't require bombed drives for success. |
Brian Gay Why not? He won there by 10 shots two years ago. |
Winner: None; Wild card: None. |
||
Martin |
Matt Kuchar Strong wedge play and an even stronger putter should equal success here. He has six top-10s in nine starts this year. |
Aaron Baddeley Baddeley's 2006 victory here came on Easter, which falls again on the final day of this year's Heritage. Throw in that coincidence and the fact that he's among the Tour's best putters, and it sounds like you have a winner. |
Winner: Martin Laird (T-9); wild card: Ryan Palmer (MC). |

Matt Kuchar There aren't many sure things in this game, but here's one of them, because everytime you look up, the onetime Georgia Tech star is in the mix. Nine starts this year, six top 10s. Of his last 35 tournaments, 17 have resulted in top 10s. Sure, you'd like to have seen him turn a few of these chances into wins, but in 16 weekend rounds this year his scoring average is 69.062, so it's not like coughs it up. |
Webb Simpson Quietly taking progressive steps in his PGA Tour career. Has absorbed the disappointments that are part of the learning curve, but appears poised for good things. Finished T-14 here a year ago. |
Winner: Spencer Levin (MC); wild card: Kyle Stanley (MC). |
||
Ringler |

Aaron Baddeley He won here in 2006 and has never places outside the top 22 in five starts. |
Winner: Bo Van Pelt (T-59); wild card: Chris Kirk (T-48). |

Luke Donald Arguably the best European player right now on a course perfect for his game. |
Spencer Levin Having a very good 2011 and has had some success at Hilton Head, just glad he was outside the top 50. |
Winner: Adam Scott (T-23); wild card: John Rollins (MC). |
