Attention, aspiring golf writers!
Golfweek.com is now accepting submissions for its first-ever National College Writing Contest, which will award four Summer 2011 internships to college journalists across the country.
What’s at stake?: As an editorial intern, winning students will serve as contributing writers to Golfweek.com and write weekly features and news stories for the summer of 2011.
Who can enter?: Ideal candidates would be journalism/communications students with backgrounds in newspaper, magazine or online sports reporting. Strong copy-editing skills and knowledge of golf and AP Style are a must, as is the ability to think creatively and generate story ideas.
Students across the country are eligible to apply and relocation is not necessary, as duties may be performed remotely. Internship duties would take up roughly 10-12 hours per week and scheduling is very flexible.
How to enter?: The theme for this year’s contest is “Your greatest golf memory.” Candidates should provide an original, thoughtful essay (less than 800 words) reflecting on their most memorable experience with the game of golf. Submissions may address anything from PGA Tour memories to individual experiences with the game.
In addition to your submission, please include a resume with references and up to three other writing samples. Entries are due to D.J. Piehowski (dpiehowski@golfweek.com) by May 6, 2011.
