Wilson Golf to sponsor Illinois Open
Monday, April 25, 2011
Wilson Golf signed a three-year deal making it a presenting sponsor and the exclusive golf equipment manufacturer of the Illinois Open Championship through 2013.
The agreement with the Illinois PGA continues the Chicago-based equipment maker’s investment in its local community. Recently, Wilson Golf also announced endorsement deals with PGA Tour player Kevin Streelman and Mike Small, a three-time PGA Professional national champion and the University of Illinois men’s golf coach – both Illinois natives.
Regarding the new deal, Tim Clarke, Wilson Golf’s general manager, said “. . . we realize the importance of supporting players at the club level – especially those in our own backyard. We look forward to having a great relationship with the Illinois PGA for many years to come.”
Added Casey Brozek, president of the Illinois PGA: “As the long-time home town equipment manufacturer, Wilson Golf ‘s sponsorship of the Illinois Open Championship is a perfect way to highlight their renewed commitment to local golf. We look forward to working with them to grow our state championship.”
The 62nd Illinois Open Championship will be staged at Hawthorn Woods (Ill.) Country Club, July 25-27. The event has been administered by the Illinois PGA since 1950, but its history dates back to 1922.
