Miami (Ohio) University has hired former Wichita State assistant coach Zac Zedrick as its new head men’s golf coach, athletic director Brad Bates announced Monday. Zedrick begins his duties immediately and replaces Casey Lubahn, who left Oxford to become head coach at Michigan State.

“I’m truly grateful for the opportunity that Brad Bates, President (David) Hodge and (associate athletic director) Josh Fenton have provided me at Miami,” Zedrick said. “I was so impressed with the culture and vision of the athletic department during the interview process and really feel that it aligns perfectly with my philosophy as a coach. I think the foundation for success within the golf program has been built within the past few years, and I’m excited to work, learn, and grow with our student-athletes.”

Zedrick has spent the previous three seasons as an assistant coach at Wichita State. While there he helped lead the Shockers to the Missouri Valley Conference Championship each year. They also participated in the NCAA regional each season, and three golfers earned All-America status. Zedrick aided in all aspects of recruiting for Wichita State and served as tournament director for its home tournament, the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic.

Before his time in Wichita, Zedrick spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Toledo. While there, he helped with all aspects of recruiting and provided on-course instruction during competitions.

Zedrick was a four-year letterwinner for Michigan State. He served as team captain in each of his final two years.
