DeGrate (NR, 2013) commits to Texas A&M
Thursday, August 11, 2011
Austin DeGrate of Sugarland, Texas, has given a verbal commitment to play college golf at Texas A&M.
DeGrate, who was recently runner-up to former top-ranked junior Jordan Spieth in the Texas 5A State Championship, attends Fort Bend Clements High School and will graduate a semester early and enroll at Texas A&M in the spring of 2013.
Texas A&M was the only school DeGrate visited.
“I did not make any other unofficial visits because A&M was my first preference above any other institution,” DeGrate said. “I have always admired and appreciated the Aggie tradition. The athletic as well as the academic-support facilities are outstanding. The proximity to my hometown, my family and support group give me the best opportunity to accomplish my academic and athletic goals. Coach (J.T.) Higgins and Coach (Jim) Anderson have a proven track record and history of developing young men into better golfers and people.”
