Phoenix Open tops $4 million in charitable giving

The Thunderbirds, the host organization that stages the Waste Management Phoenix Open, announced this year’s rendition raised more than $4 million for local charities.
Since 2003 when the tournament first secured a title sponsor, the event has contributed in excess of $46.4 million to charities, and since its founding in 1932, the Phoenix Open’s philanthropy has netted more than $74.4 million.
The 2012 Waste Management Phoenix Open is scheduled to be held at TPC Scottsdale from Jan. 30 - Feb. 5, 2012. It will mark the 77th playing of the tournament, which is one of the five oldest events on the PGA Tour.
