Former San Jose State teammates Juli Inkster and Pat Hurst have been inducted into the NGCA Players Hall of Fame. They were among a number of honorees in women’s college golf recognized Dec. 6 at the NGCA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
Inkster was a three-time All-American while at San Jose State, and also won three consecutive U.S. Women’s Amateurs during that time. Hurst captured first-team All-American honors twice during her collegiate career, and also won seven individual tournament titles. Both went on to successful LPGA careers.
UCLA head coach Carrie Forsyth also was recognized Dec. 6, becoming the 44th member of the NGCA Coaches Hall of Fame. Forsyth has guided the Bruins to two national titles, six regional victories and three conference wins during her 12 years at the helm of the program. UCLA also has won 43 regular tournament titles in that time.
“It’s such an honor for me to be inducted into the Hall of Fame,” Forsyth said. “Many of my coaching idols are inductees and I feel humbled and privileged to be in such fine company.”
Fellow head coach Kelly Hester, of Georgia, won the Gladys Palmer Meritorious Service Award. Hester was a standout for Georgia during her collegiate career from 1992-92, earning 21 top-20 finishes in 40 tournaments and graduating cum laude. She has coached five Bulldog golfers who have earned All-America recognition, and watched her teams set the four best tournament totals in Georgia history.
