Jeff Overton facing charges of resisting arrest
Professional golfer Jeff Overton faces three misdemeanor charges after allegedly resisting arrest in Indiana as police tried to arrest him for public intoxication and disorderly conduct, NewsCore reported Friday.
Overton, 28, drew the attention of police by yelling from his limousine, WFIE-TV of Evansville, Ind., reported, citing information from police.
Overton, a member of the 2010 Ryder Cup team, faced similar charges in 2007, which were later dismissed. He also had illegal-consumption charges in 2001 and 2003 when he was underage.
The Indiana native had appeared the night before at a college basketball game to present a $50,000 check for the Play Golf America initiative run by the PGA and LPGA tours, U.S. Golf Association and PGA of America.
