Clinton will visit Nationwide's Colombia event
The Humana Challenge won’t be the only PGA Tour-sanctioned event to benefit from Bill Clinton’s presence in 2012. Sources have told Golfweek that the former president also will appear at the Nationwide Tour’s Pacific Rubiales Colombia Championship.
Details of Clinton’s trip have not been finalized, but he would be the first president to appear at a Nationwide Tour event. The Colombia Championship is scheduled for Feb. 13-19 at the Country Club of Bogota in Bogota, Colombia.
The Clinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative is active in Colombia, providing access to economic opportunities, education, and health and nutrition services. CGSGI has launched several projects to develop sustainable, market-driven businesses in some of the most under-resourced areas of Colombia, according to the William J. Clinton Foundation website.
The Clinton Foundation will partner with Humana to promote health and wellness at the Humana Challenge (formerly the Bob Hope Classic), which will be held Jan. 16-22 at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif. The foundation will host the Health Matters: Activating Wellness in Every Generation conference on Jan. 17, the Tuesday of tournament week, in nearby Indian Wells, Calif.
