Hedwall named LET Player of the Year
STILLWATER, Okla. — A former Oklahoma State women’s golfer has been named the Ladies European Tour Player of the Year for 2011.
Oklahoma State officials say former standout Caroline Hedwall is the first player in the Ladies European Tour history to win player of the year honors and the Rolex Rookie of the Year in the same season.
Hedwall, of Barsebäck, Sweden, played in 20 events this season. She finished third on the tour’s money list behind Ai Myazato and Melissa Reid.
After winning the tour’s Final Qualifying School by nine shots, Hedwall made her professional debut on the Australian Ladies Professional Golf Tour and won at the New South Wales Open.
Next season, Hedwall will compete as a member of both the LPGA and Ladies European Tours
