Barrington offers trendy, personalized leather line
Golf accessories are so much more than just a ball marker, divot repair tool and hat. Nowadays, it seems more and more that golf is becoming a lifestyle. For the past 20 years, Barrington has been providing accessories to consumers, but recently has put a finer touch on the subject.
Based in Dallas, Barrington has become well-known and well-regarded for providing custom, unique, high-end leather goods and accessories for golfers. Gone are the days golfers will just get a sleeve of balls and hat for playing in a club championship. “We’re the anti-golf company,” said Wes Boyd, director of marketing and sales at Barrington. “No one really wants another shirt or umbrella; people want to be wowed, and we can do that.”
What Barrington has become known for is using top-quality leather and engraving an item with your initials. The leather used on its products is the same type of leather used to make harnesses or saddles for horses. On a few items, there is a fabric lining with a pattern of your initials or your club’s logo, including Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, Riviera and Olympic Club.
Barrington’s best sellers are its money clip, iPhone case wallet and the Captain’s Bag, which can be used as a carry-on bag at the airport. “We offer 100-plus items,” Boyd said. “The best part of being a Barrington customer is being a part of the whole process of what you want from start to finish.”
Customers can have fun ordering online and create the exact product they want. For instance, a person can click on a wallet they may want, then choose a leather color, fabric lining, a fabric pattern, the initials embroidered and a logo, if desired. “It’s a lot of fun to personalize your own item,” Boyd said. “The best part is customers can get their product either overnight or a week or two later.”
Barrington products are starting to become more trendy than people may realize. Throughout the year, people who play in PGA Tour pro-ams will receive a personalized gift from Barrington. “We ultimately are working toward becoming a brand that is going to be found in all the clubs,” Boyd said. “Clubs know us, and we want to be the ultimate prize for people when playing in special and memorable events.”
Over the years, it seems clear there is a lack of creativity in “goodie bags” when playing in tournaments or events. Now, Barrington is starting to carry momentum with its personalized leather line, and it is a fresh new idea that people will be certain to enjoy. Everyone can go play in a tournament and get a sleeve of balls, but how many can say they got a personalized wallet, or money clip with their initials on it?
The most important part, however, is the fun you have in making it. After all, you’re the designer from start to finish.
