Grant Daugherty, of Alcoa, Tenn., has given a verbal commitment to play at Tennessee. Daugherty, No. 299 in Golfweek’s Junior Rankings, considered Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State, East Tennessee State, Wofford and Western Kentucky before settling on the Vols.

“That’s been my dream since I started playing,” Daugherty said, according to The Daily Times in Maryville, Tenn.

Daugherty, a junior at Alcoa High School, won the Class A/AA state tournament this fall, and tied for fifth at the AJGA Woodward Video Junior at The Greenbrier, held in September in White Sulfur Springs, W.Va.

“It’s been his dream since he was a kid to play at Tennessee, to play in the SEC,” said Grant’s father, Rob Dougherty, according to The Daily Times. “That’s what he’s wanted to do his whole life.”
