CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Paula Reto, a sophomore at Purdue, won the Women’s Dixie Amateur on Monday, beating Ginger Howard and Holly Clyburn by five shots at Heron Bay Golf Club.

Reto, No. 83 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, shot rounds of 72-69-70 to finish at 5-under 211. She is the second Purdue player to win an amateur event in the past four days; freshman Alex Stewart won the Arizona Silver Belle Championship on Dec. 30.

Reto, a native of Cape Town, South Africa, played two events this fall for the fifth-ranked Boilermakers, who won the NCAA Championship last May. Her best finish was a T-6 at the 2010 Windy City Collegiate.

Howard was a member of the victorious 2010 U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team, and Clyburn was a former junior standout in her native England.
