JEFF BABINEAU

Best Bet: Adam Scott

I liked Geoff Ogilvy until a Wednesday mishap resulted in him getting 12 stitches in his right index finger. So I’ll shift my poker chips to another Aussie who’s at home in the wind, Adam Scott.

JIM McCABE

Best Bet: Ernie Els

When it comes to Kapalua, the Big Easy seems to fit in as comfortably as the views of Molokai and Lanai. Eight previous trips have yielded a win and five finishes in the top five. Throw in the recent win in his native South Africa and you can figure he’s in good enough form to continue his love affair with this slice of paradise.

SEAN MARTIN

Best Bet: Francesco Molinari.

Even though he’s coming off a victory at the WGC-HSBC, I still think the Italian is underrated. Molinari closed out 2010 with his WGC victory and a sixth-place finish at the Dubai World Championship.

ALEX MICELI

Best Bet: Stuart Appleby

With Geoff Ogilvy and Zach Johnson possible WDs, Stuart Appleby is looking awfully good.  Three consecutive wins in this event from 2004-2006, it's not much of a leap to take Appleby in 2011.

LANCE RINGLER

Best bet: Jim Furyk

He was selected 2010 PGA Tour Player of the Year, and it seems he is not getting much attention as we head into the season opener. In 22 starts in the state of Hawaii, Furyk has posted 10 top 10s. In a small field, look for him to contend this week.
