The 19-year-old Korean took top honors Jan. 15 at OneAsia Qualifying School.

Han blazed his way to a closing 7-under 65 at Mission Hills Haikou and beat compatriot Kim Woo-hyun by six strokes. By virtue of his top placing, Han is now eligible to play every OneAsia tournament on the schedule this year, including co-sanctioned and limited-field events.

“I felt like I wasn’t playing well last year and that I wasn’t very lucky,” said Han, winner of the 2009 Asian Amateur. “But I have been playing confidently these past two weeks.

“OneAsia is getting bigger and stronger, and there are many opportunities for me to grow. . . This is a dream for me.”

Han said he will stay in college in South Korea while juggling a full-time golf schedule. He has his sights set on competing against China’s Liang Wen-chong, the OneAsia Order of Merit champion.

“I have heard that Liang is very diligent and hard-working,” said Han, who finished T-85 at the Masters. “This is something I wish to learn from him, and it would be an honor to be matched up with China’s best player.”

Nine other players earned playing rights for 2011 and can enter all full-field events.

OneAsia will stage at least 15 tournaments across the Asia Pacific region in 2011, the tour announced.
