Arnie, Player: GQ's definition of cool
Tuesday, January 25, 2011
Two golfers made the GQ magazine’s list of the 25 coolest athletes of all-time: Arnold Palmer and Gary Player.
The King, I get. Pants hitched, charisma exuded.
The Black Knight? I’m thinking his impersonation of the Elvis Presley pelvic rock at swing clinics might have put him over the top.
Tiger Woods, who used to be cool, did not make the list, but Ted Turner did. Walter Hagen didn’t make the list, but Arthur Ashe did. Frank Stranahan didn’t make the list, but Evel Knievel did.
But then I’m cool with cool being subjective.
