Anthony Kim accepts late invite into British Open
INVERNESS, Scotland — Anthony Kim has become the third American to accept a late entry into next week’s British Open, replacing the injured Tim Clark for the year’s third major.
Clark withdrew Wednesday after the South African failed to recover from a left elbow injury that has prevented him from playing since mid-May.
Americans Jason Dufner and Robert Garrigus also have received late entries to the Open, after the withdrawals of Tiger Woods and Thomas Levet, both of whom cited injuries.
Kim finished seventh in his Open debut in 2008, but failed to make the cut the next year and missed the 2010 event after thumb surgery.
