Florida Gulf Coast has named Sarah Trew, who spent the past five seasons as an assistant coach at Kansas, as the new head women’s coach.

“I am both honored and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of a quality athletics department such as FGCU,” said Trew, who graduated from Arkansas in 2006. “There is unlimited potential for the women’s golf program and I am eager to start a tradition of excellence.”

In Florida Gulf Coast, which is in Fort Myers, Trew is inheriting a team that is coming off a third-place finish at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, the highest in program history. Florida Gulf Coast finished the 2010-11 season No. 140 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings.
