Tuesday, July 26, 2011
Tezira Abe has given a verbal commitment to the University of Texas. Abe is ranked No. 35 in the 2012 class and ranks as the No. 16 junior golfer in Texas.
“I’ve always wanted to be a student at Texas, even before I started playing golf, so to be able to play golf for my dream school is the coolest thing ever for me,” Abe said. “Texas was my first unofficial visit, and I absolutely loved it. The team, Coach (Martha) Richards and Coach (Tracy) Parsons are great. I know that the University of Texas is the place for me to really excel and improve.”
Abe also made unofficial visits to Tulane and Wisconsin. She also considered Texas A&M, Wake Forest, Oklahoma State, TCU, Harvard, Texas-San Antonio, Ole Miss and Denver.
Abe, who attends Angleton (Texas) High School, has recorded four top 10s, including two runner-up finishes in AJGA tournaments, and was named to the AJGA HP Scholastic Honor Roll last year.
