Kailey Walsh of Boca Raton, Fla., has given a verbal commitment to the University of Georgia. Walsh is ranked No. 23 overall in the 2012 class. Walsh also considered California, Northwestern, Wake Forest, Florida, Harvard, Tulane, Ole Miss and Boston College.
“I love everything about Georgia . . . from the coaches and team to the academics, the facilities and the campus. Both Coach (Kelley) Hester and Coach (Margaret) Shirley have inspired their players to have a winning, team-first attitude,” Walsh said. “After making two unofficial visits with the coaches and team, I knew that Georgia was the place for me. I am really excited to have the opportunity to compete in the SEC against many of the best golfers in the country.”
Walsh will join her brother, Blair, in Athens. Blair is a kicker on the Georgia football team.
Walsh has six top-7 finishes in AJGA events. She recently qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur. Walsh also finished seventh at the 2011 Women’s Dixie Amateur and advanced to match play at the 2010 U.S. Girls’ Junior.
