AmEx, Fanvision enhance Open viewing experience
One of the problems fans have when attending a golf tournament is that they can only follow the action on one hole. American Express, in conjunction with Fanvision, is providing fans a viewing alternative at this week’s U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club.
Fanvision markets a wireless handheld device that provides many of the creature comforts of watching from home, even when you’re at an event. The device, dubbed CourseCast TV for purposes of the U.S. Open, has a 4.3-inch screen and six hours of battery life. CourseCast TV includes:
• 10 channels each of live video and live audio of the Open, including the ESPN and NBC feeds;
• a real-time leaderboard and stats;
• hole flyovers and maps;
• and a live Twitter feed on the Open.
AmEx is offering the device on a complimentary basis to cardholders, as it has done since 2008. It is distributing 4,000 CourseCast TVs and up to 50,000 CourseCast Radios this week.
The devices are available at the American Express Championship Experience, located near the main entrance to Congressional’s Blue Course.
