Korean Jung-gon Hwang outlasted Kyung-tae Kim and Japanese star Ryo Ishikawa to win the Japan Golf Tour Organization's Gateway to the Open Mizuno Open in Kasaoka, Japan.
Hwang recorded a hole-in-one in the final round, which helped catapult him to his first JGTO title, one shot ahead of Kim and two clear of Ishikawa.
Hwang started slowly at the JFE Setonaikai Golf Club, firing an opening-round 74. But rounds of 67-68-66 left him at 13 under for the tournament and with a spot in the British Open at Royal St. George's in England.
Ishikawa seemed to be on his way to victory, but a triple-bogey on No. 12 derailed his chances.
Hwang, whose best finish was T15 at the Tsuruya Open in April, earned $270,000 for the victory.
Australian Brad Kennedy and Thailand's Praya Marksaeng also earned spots in the British Open. They'll be joined by Japan's Kiroo Kawai and Tadahiro Takayama, who will be making the trip to England after placing in the top two spots on the JGTO money list.
