T.J. Vogel, once one of the nation’s top recruits, is transferring to Florida after two seasons at USC, sources confirmed to Golfweek. The move brings Vogel, of Cooper City, Fla., closer to home.

Vogel was granted a release by USC and will be eligible to compete for Florida in the 2011-12 season.

Vogel won two of the nation’s top junior events – the Junior PGA Championship and Rolex Tournament of Champions – in the summer leading up to his freshman year at USC. He was a freshman All-American in 2009-10 and Golfweek honorable mention All-American. He finished the season ranked 34th in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings.

His sophomore year got off to a promising start. He finished fourth and second in his first two events this season, and was ranked seventh after the fall season. He fell to 139th by season’s end, failing to finish better than 33rd in his final seven events. He closed the year with a 113th-place finish at the NCAA Championship at Karsten Creek.
