Arkansas made the most of a quick turnaround this week, winning the LSU Golf Classic on March 13. It’s the first victory this spring for the Razorbacks, who spent the first part of the week in Gainesville, Fla., at the SunTrust Gator Women’s Invite

The Razorbacks finished at 24-over 888 at the University Club in Baton Rouge, La., to beat second-place Virginia by seven shots. In two previous starts this season, Arkansas finished 11th (Central District Invite) and fifth (Gator Invite). The team won twice in the fall and is No. 15 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings.

Freshman Emily Tubert led the Razorback charge with a third-place finish. After opening with 6-over 78, Tubert rebounded with rounds of 70-71 to get to 3-over 219. Teammates Kelli Shean and Victoria Vela finished T-7 at 6-over 222.

Top-ranked Alabama finished in a three-way tie with Tennessee (No. 14) and Duke (No. 6) at 36-over 900. Host LSU was alone in sixth two shots back.

Duke sophomore Lindy Duncan won the second individual title of her career in a playoff with Louisville’s Anna Karin Ljungstrom. Both players finished regulation at 2-over 218.
