Annika Sorenstam brings infant son home
Annika Sorenstam welcomed home her son, Will, on May 17 after he spent 57 days in the intensive-care unit of an Orlando, Fla., hospital. The homecoming was one month from Sorenstam’s original due date.
Will was born at 27 weeks’ gestation and cared for at Winnie Palmer’s Alexander Center for Neonatology. Sorenstam, 40, retired from competitive golf in 2008 after having amassed 72 LPGA victories in a Hall of Fame career. She and husband Mike McGee have chronicled Will’s progress on her blog and Twitter. He came home weighing 5 pounds, 5 ounces. The couple have one other child, Ava Madelyn.
“We have said all along that this has been an emotional roller coaster, and I’m sure today will be no different,” Sorenstam wrote on her blog earlier today. “We will face an entirely new set of emotions as we make the drive to the hospital that has become our routine.”
