Bruins close fall season with win in Hawaii

UCLA cruised to a 20-shot win Wednesday at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, shooting 15-under 849 at Kapolei (Hawaii) Golf Course. The Bruins end the fall portion of their season with three wins in four starts.

UCLA opened with an even-par 288 in Round 1 to take a seven-shot lead on Pac-12 opponents Washington and Stanford. The Bruines distanced themselves further with rounds of 278-283 to finish at 15-under 849 for the tournament.

Washington was second at 5-over 869 and Stanford was third four shots back. Florida International finished fourth at 28-over 892.

UCLA junior Lee Lopez took medalist honors with a 7-under 209, while senior teammate tied for second with Washington’s Sadena Parks and San Jose State’s Madeleine Ziegert at 3 under. UCLA’s Tiffany Lua (T-5), Brianna Do (T-8) and Ani Gulugian (10) also finished inside the top 10. Freshman Kyle Roig played as an individual for the Bruins, but finished 11th.
