Snedeker undergoes hip surgery, out 6-8 weeks

Brandt Snedeker underwent surgery Tuesday to fix a degenerative issue in his right hip and will miss the next six to eight weeks.
Snedeker, who won the Heritage last April and finished 14th on the 2011 PGA Tour money list, was playing in the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic in Malaysia when he initially felt discomfort in his hip. Following a consultation, Snedeker elected to have surgery on his labrum.
“I am certainly disappointed I will not be able to fulfill some obligations I had ahead of me during the next few months,” Snedeker, 31, said in a statement. “However, I realize I needed to get this done now so that I can get back to competition for the 2012 season. Having this procedure is only going to help me in the long run.
“This will enhance my focus going forward as I try to win golf tournaments and compete in major championships. I am very confident my recovery will be complete and will help me with my mobility during the remainder of my career.”
