Central Florida rallies to win Lady Northern
FRENCH LICK, Ind. – Central Florida started the final round at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate in fourth place but posted the best round of the 12-team field to win by five shots over Ohio State.
The Knights, No. 54 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, finished the three-round event at 35-over 887. Katie Mitchell finished in second, while Minofa Sealy (T-6), Carolin Pinegger (T-11) and Kaitlyn Price (T-11) all placed in the top 15.
Michigan”s Meagan Bauer shot a final round, 3-under 68 to capture medalist honors at even-par 213. She defeated UCF’s Katie Mitchell by four shots. Second-round leader Kendall Price of Ohio State shot a final-round, 10-over 81 to drop her into fifth place at 8-over 221.
Ohio State finished second in the team race, followed by Michigan (893), Iowa State (896) and Augusta State (902).
Before the Lady Northern, UCF was runner-up at the Bettie Lou Invitational after a disappointing 10th-place finish to start the year at the Dale McNamara Invitational in Tulsa.
