LA QUINTA, Calif. – A sterling final round by Washington freshman Cheng-Tsung Pan couldn’t help the Huskies overcome a resurgent Oregon team during the final round of The Prestige at PGA West.
The Ducks, No. 2 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, closed with an 8-under 280 to hang on for a wild two-stroke victory Oct. 11 on the Greg Norman Course. They finished at 32-under 832.
Pan, meanwhile, shot 15-under 201 (69-67-65) to win the individual title by three strokes over Oregon’s Eugene Wong.
Top-ranked Stanford finished third, eight shots back, after freshman Patrick Rodgers tied for 10th.
